The Annual Professional Breakfast celebrates the launch of JATL's annual journal, Pandora's Box. The theme for this year is ‘Law in First Person.’ This edition will explore Indigeneity, and the ways in which the law responds to, recognises and makes reparation to Indigenous peoples, both in historical and contemporary perspective. The aim of Pandora’s Box is to open up academic discussion of legal, social and political issues to a broader audience. This is achieved by featuring interviews, articles and book reviews from, among others, distinguished judges, academics, politicians and practitioners.
We are privileged to welcome His Honour Judge Nathan Jarro of the District Court to deliver the keynote address. His Honour has been extensively engaged in Indigenous affairs throughout his legal career, including as a part-time member of the Aboriginal Land Tribunal in 2015, as a member of the Queensland Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Advisory Council (2008–2010) and president of the Indigenous Lawyers Association of Queensland Inc (2007–2009). His Honour has additionally served as editorial board member of the Indigenous Law Bulletin (2007–2011), and as the Bar Association of Queensland President's Nominee for the Australian Bar Association's Indigenous Issues Committee in 2016. This event would not be possible without the generous sponsorship of the Queensland Law Society.
